studio 2.

i went back yesterday to different fur studios for another night of photographing the week-long studio session for the southern-california band, Media. three days of almost 24-hour sessions had started to take its toll on all involved. everyone was tired and/or hopped up on coffee and the occasional beer, which lead to some really funny interactions. here are some of my favorites from the night. it's a shame i have some assignments to shoot for the next few days, because i'm sure it would be even more entertaining during the final day home-stretch.

burt was trying to nap as jordan sang along to the recorded tracks so far:bryan rocks out:during some down time, burt got creative with an oil pen:all you need to record a full-length album:joe gives bryan lessons in rockstardom:and remember, coffee is your friend as exhaustion sets in:

studio.

spent a couple days this week in san francisco photographing the studio sessions for this band from rialto called Media. i swear, they are the cutest kids i've ever seen or had the pleasure of photographing. my buddy, joe, is producing their first full-length album at different fur studios in SF. never gotten to photograph, much less witness, the behind-the-scenes of recording an album, and it's been incredible. makes me miss playing in bands back in high school.

so here's some photos of the kids and the folks who make the magic happen. enjoy.
it was bryan's birthday on the first day of recording, so they got him a lil piece of cake:
good grooves, good people, all-in-all good times.

south dakota.

adventures in south dakota were so much more relaxed than nyc. got to see barker, who is about to hit her first anniversary as a staff photographer for the Rapid City Journal. spent the few days there catching up on sleep, playing fetch with her dog, moco, drinking coffee and experimenting with ear candles. yes, ear candles. quote of the trip was taken from the ear candle instruction paper: "never endeavour to candle alone." indeed.
went thrifting and saw this beautiful land camera. i only wish i had a more disposable income, room in my suitcase, and film to fit.
moco still thinks he is a puppy, so he likes to jump in your lap even though he's probably close to 70 lbs now:adventures in ear candling:

never made it to rushmore, but i guess that's incentive to go back to visit! loved the excitement, but it's good to be (somewhat) home again.
