A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Bay Area forager Connie Green in Napa for the Wall Street Journal. We spent a few hours driving through the Napa Valley, finding hidden (and sometimes not-so-hidden) pockets of native plants, climbing through thickets and picking all kinds of fresh foods from public land. I'd never been foraging before and didn't really know what to expect but Connie was incredibly accommodating, showing me how to collect black walnuts and how to find wild fennel. She even gave me some tips on the plants that grow wild in Sacramento, so maybe I'll go foraging in my neighborhood instead of going to the grocery store this week.

I finally got around to processing and scanning about 8 rolls of random expired film that I shot on my little Holga over the last year or so. Not a whole lot came out, but there were a few fun surprises in the mix. And at least now I know where my camera has light leaks... haha. Enjoy!

zombie walk

This past weekend I had the pleasure of participating in my first zombie walk! We met up with hundreds of zombie-enthusiasts to walk the streets of Sacramento for this month's Second Saturday Art Walk. It was amazing! But I have to say, it would probably have been easier to photograph if I wasn't covered in fake blood. Here's some photos I managed to snag between zombie-groans and utterances of "braaaaaaains!" tear sheet - fader 68

Just wanted to share some clips from the latest issue of Fader. I was really excited to go down to Los Angeles to photograph Active Child and Freddie Gibbs. It was especially rad to meet up with Gibbs again, since I'd photographed him at SXSW for Oh Dang! Magazine and he was a pleasure to work with. I got to go with him and his crew to Venice Beach to get burgers and walk his super-sweet pit bull puppy. Photographing Active Child was like a blast from the past once we realized we'd gone to high school down the street from each other. We traded stories from living in LA, and for the first time in a while, I felt at home in my home town.
